702-731-7110 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. Cleopatra's Barge is quite a popular nightspot and if you're looking for great fun, you'll definitely find it here! This Egyptian-themed dance club has long been a favorite of Las Vegas's older crowd, which has spent the last 30 or so years parading around with their favorite cocktails while bebopping to classic rock, R&B, and dance hits. In recent years, the lounge experienced a total facelift, reinventing itself as a haven for the younger tourist crowd and featuring weekend dance parties led by the R&B styling of Anita Sarawak and the Rhythm Nation.

702-737-0555 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. Occupying a swank location in the basement of the Barbary Coast, this trendy bar and Art Deco lounge boasts hip, library-like furnishings: bookshelves, cozy sofas, leopard chairs, and tropical plants. Concoctions like the lychee martini are sure to please, but prepare yourself: these drinks don't come cheap. A cozy, candle-lit dining area off the lounge offers Mediterranean-style fare, and entrées range from seven-hour leg of lamb to crab cakes. Each night, a small jazz ensemble entertains audiences with light, soulful grooves.

702-737-7376 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. This elegant space accommodates 1,300 people, and its large stage typically hosts rock and metal bands, although at times, major DJ talents take over. The central floor is lined with recessed, semicircular booths, perfect for four or five friends. Large, cozy couches and a warm color scheme encourage audiophiles to mingle between sets. If more privacy is desired, head to the upper balcony or to the patio for views of the Strip. The prominently-hung signature chandelier occasionally descends in a blaze of color and light.

877-880-0880 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. Legendary crooner Tom Jones only performs at the Hollywood Theatre when in Vegas. If this fact alone isn't enough to draw you in, consider the place's 740-seat size, which is much more up-close-and-personal than most of the venues at Sin City's major hotels. Even more happily, each seat has a great view of the stage. Besides the Welsh heartthrob, other musical acts appear, as well as stand-up comics and magicians (including David Copperfield).

702-891-7254 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. It shouldn't surprise anybody that Vegas tried to recapture the style-over-substance decadence of NYC's famously doomed Studio 54. The MGM Grand edition vaunts the same devil-may-care attitude, and hordes of beautiful young things crowd in every night to shake their moneymakers as the house DJ spins the hottest techno, Top 40, house and R&B music on the planet. Indeed the club's four levels offer a Dantean lesson in all things chic and trendy posh leather couches, warehouse-themed decor, smoke machines, and (lest anyone forget the place's lineage) the moon that hung over the door of the original Studio 54. Keep your eyes peeled you may just run into a few celebrities or at least some wannabes.

702-369-5111 | | | | | Description: THE STRIP. Uprooted from its original location at the Riviera, the Improv is most likely Las Vegas's most noteworthy comedy venue. In fact, it's not uncommon for comics to have their performances here taped so that they can be aired on television. The Improv features at least three new comics weekly.

One of the Strip's swankiest lounges, the VooDoo spellbinds with its exclusive, dressed-to-the-nines clientele and suave bartenders who are prone to bust into juggling routines at random intervals. This chic nightspot, located at the top of the Rio Casino Resort, offers spectacularly sweeping views of the city and an open-air veranda area where patrons can enjoy a cool desert breeze and some of the Strip's most potent cocktails. In addition, each night the fabulous kitchen staff spices things up a bit with a fanciful Big Easy-style Creole menu. However, if you plan to dine, reservations are a must.

702-797-7777 | | | | | Description: WEST LAS VEGAS. Having cut their performance teeth in Scottsdale, AZ, Chris Phillips and Marley Taylor were enticed to headline at Red Rock's Rocks Lounge and headline they do. The engaged, Hollywood-blond couple absolutely tear up the stage with energy and talent, covering everyone from hip-hop artists to Rat Pack legends. Lots of costumes, audience participation, and dancing enliven performances, and attendees always come away with glowing reviews of the experience. These two have the vocal chops and the stage presence to get folks grooving in their seats and to play an enduring role on the circuit.
